Paul Flam, 90, passed away at his home in Providence on February 9th. Funeral services will be held Thursday in Kansas City. Shiva will be held in Providence, February 18 and 19, 7-9 pm at Epoch, 1 Butler Ave. Born in Baltimore, MD in 1922, son of Abraham Flam and Rose Kwash, Paul graduated from City College High School and John Hopkins University, and later received a Master’s Degree from Sloan School at M.I.T. He served in the Army Air Corp and served as an electronics officer in the Pacific Theater in WWII. Following the war, Paul remained in the Air Force as a civil servant and reservist until he retired in 1979, having earned the highest civil servant rank granted by the Air Force Communications Service. After his retirement from the Air Force, Paul settled in Kansas City where he lived until his move to Providence in November 2012. He is survived by his children, Rabbi Alan Flam and wife Judy Semonoff; Nina Shik and husband David Shik. He is also survived by five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

I am grateful for the life of Mr. Flam. Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.
