Born in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of Benjamin Kimbrel and Myrtle Cozac. She graduated from Emporia High School. She worked at Meadow Gold, JCPenney, and A&W/KFC as secretary for 25 years.
Jean was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, painting, playing the organ, calligraphy, and reading. She will be remembered for her faith in Jesus Christ, hospitality, generosity, crafts, and delicious food. She shared her knowledge and talents with many. Folks were blessed to learn her craft of crochet as she patiently sat to show each stitch in different patterns for blankets and stuffed animals. With each stroke beautiful letters left her pens for poetry and scripture in calligraphy and penmanship. Jean tried new hobbies and mastered them. Beautiful bird houses with intricately painted flowers have swung from the trees while ceramics accent rooms. She shared her creations with the people around her as gifts. Instead of thank you cards and birthday cards pies, sweet treats were the perfect presents from her kitchen. Platters of delicious fried chicken and bowls of scrumptious side dishes joined family and friends many times. One helping was never enough while seconds and thirds were encouraged and expected. Watching the Pioneer Woman and collecting many cooking utensils was fun because she was truly a pioneer woman herself with her canning and cooking. If she knew you, you were prayed for and fed. Jean loved going to church to join fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to sing praises to God while learning more about His promises through His Word. She read her Bible every day. We know she rejoices with her Savior now and forever.
She is survived by her son Edgar Ray Bible Jr. (Connie).
