Albert Joseph Lemmis, 82, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away on June 11, 2019 under Hospice care at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the youngest of six siblings, born March 11, 1937 in Newport, Rhode Island to James W. and Eleanor (née Quelet) Lemmis.
He grew up in Jamestown, Rhode Island, and later in Cranston, Rhode Island. He graduated from La Salle Academy (Providence) in 1955. He served in the US Air Force where he served in Morocco and worked in finance. He graduated from Providence College in Rhode Island in 1967 with a BS in Business Administration.
Various corporate moves had him living in North Stonington, Connecticut (1967- 1969) Watertown, Connecticut (1969-1977) Simsbury, Connecticut (1977-1982) Coral Springs, Florida (1982-1990) and Glendale, Arizona (1990-1999) where he retired from American Express as a corporate auditor and moved to Punta Gorda, Florida. He and his wife Marie enjoyed traveling all over the world during the last 20 years.
He was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 20 years, where he attended daily Mass and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie Lemmis (née Clementi), their three children, Lisa (Erick) Mead, James (Kristine) Lemmis and Albert (Tammy) Lemmis; 9 grandchildren, James Mead, Mary Mead, Genevieve Mead, Margaret Mead, James Lemmis, Elizabeth Lemmis, Tiffany Lemmis, Joseph Lemmis and Jessica Sofield, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Thomas Lemmis, Margaret Dorman, James William Lemmis, Anna Olson and Mary Crompton.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 21st at 11AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
