Ardythe (Ardie) Honer was born on Jan. 30, 1925 in Wisconsin and died on Jan. 19,, 2019. She is predeceased her husband, Harold Honer, and survived by 6 children, Cheri (Douglas) Spitz of Raleigh, John (Carrie) Honer of Dallas, Oregon, Michael (Sharon) Honer of New Hill, NC, Kathy (Mike) Marshall of Fredericksburg, VA, Ruth (Rick) Wall of Wake Forest ,and Tom (Susan) Honer of Raleigh .She also has 14 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Ardie was born in a rural area of Wisconsin and set her goals on a college degree. She attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison where she had a double major in English Lit and Spanish, at the same time working her way through school. Ardie met and married her husband Harry in Madison after his return from WWII. As Harry finished his degree in Chemical Engineering, she became a mom. They enjoyed Wisconsin for many years and had six children, which kept her very busy. Her husband’s job transfer brought Ardie to Raleigh where she worked at JC Penney for 21 years. After retirement, she became the world’s most loved Grandmother.
Ardie always had a smile and greeting for everyone she met. Her positive spirit and loving attitude touched the lives of many. She was a wonderful woman, Mom, Grandmother and friend and will be sorely missed. The love she left behind during her full glorious life will always be felt by those who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC on Thursday, January 31 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. A funeral mass will be said at 1:00PM on Friday, February 1 at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of Neuse Rd, Raleigh , NC followed by a burial at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC.
