Carolyn Anderson Kleene Eddins, 82, of Max Meadows, VA, formerly of Raleigh, NC, died peacefully in her sleep on January 6, 2019 at her home. She was the loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to those she had in her life. Born October 05, 1936, in Mount Olive, NC, she is preceded in death by her parents, James H. (Hallie) and Theda Anderson, her former husband, William J. (Bill) Kleene, her late husband John W. (Johnny) Eddins, and her brother and his wife, James S. (Jimmy) and Patricia (Pat) Anderson. She was blessed to be surrounded by her family and lifelong friend, Mrs. Meltha Adams on the night she passed.
Carolyn made her life serving family, friends and community through love and support to those around her. She graduated in 1954 from Broughton High School in Raleigh, having never missed a single day of school. After moving her family to Virginia in 1968, she was a mother, teacher, and made a career with the Big Walker Soil & Water Conservation District and USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (RC&D) before retiring. She loved caring for others, traveling to the beach, and most of all being a grandmother. During her life, she touched so many people who instantly became “family” from that day on.
She is survived by her children Deborah K. Flinchum and husband Thomas of Blacksburg, VA; Donna C. Kleene of Roanoke VA; son J. Wesley Kleene and wife Lynda of Henrico, VA; three nieces, Wanda and husband Barney Long, Wendy and husband Felton Jacobs, Melodie and husband Stewart Goswick in North Carolina. Most notably, she is survived by the two grandsons, Morgan and Logan who were clearly the sunshine in her life.
The family wishes to thank each of the many friends and family that gave her love and support throughout her life. We want to especially thank Donald Nelson, Charles and Martha Cox, Faye Armbrister, David and Betty Morehead, Meltha Adams and Margaret Sanderford and the many others that blessed her life and our family.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville, VA, followed by a Funeral Service at 7:00 PM with the Pastor Angles presiding.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 11, 2019 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home in Raleigh, NC. Funeral Services, officiated by Rev. Robyn Angle, will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
