Marie Claire Roberts, 81, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018. She was born on October 10, 1937 in France to the late Paul Levasseur and Yvonne Bernard Levasseur. Very young, Marie Claire chose the United States of America to be her heart country; the country of her life companion and husband, Dale Leroy Roberts. Her family will keep forever the memory of this beloved “American cousin” who had kept since her childhood the most beautiful expressions of the French language. For her family, as French people, she was their American cousin that their parents loved to welcome in France around a family meal which was always ending with a good glass of the very famous Calvados liquor. “Bonne vivante”, dynamic, active and always positive, always giving warmth to everyone, she was also open-minded. Marie Claire impressed everyone with her deep charismatic presence, her simplicity and her deep gentleness touched everyone. Always caring for everybody, Marie Claire was also a loving and supportive sister for Jacqueline. She was a very happy and faithful person. The style in which she wrote was really outstanding. To receive her long letters and her best wishes cards was always an incredible pleasure to her family. Her family stated: “We will never forget you, Marie Claire, because you have left a marking impression from the time we were children until now. You knew how to comfort us by giving us love and attention when our cherished parents passed away after a long battle against cancer. From our hearts we thank you so much. From where you are, we know you are in peace with your much beloved husband.”
Marie Claire is survived by her second cousins, Christophe Levasseur of Paris, France, and Catherine Levasseur of Saint Quay Portrieux, France, and by her brother-in-law, Virgil Ray Roberts and his wife, Rebecca Cecilia Roberts, of Sutter Creek, California. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Dale Leroy Roberts.
A private interment service will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park.
