She was born in Lee County, the daughter of Glenn and Fannie Rosser Gross. Norma graduated as Valedictorian from Greenwood High School, and worked for Smith Anderson Law Firm for many years, and was a staff member in the office of U.S. Senator Willis Smith, Sr. In addition to her position with the law firm she also worked for the North Carolina General Assembly. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Raleigh where she was involved in the Livingston Johnson Bible Class and was a founding member of the Japanese Ministry.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James C. Hamrick. She is survived by her children; Carolyn Gillespie and her husband Charlie of Raleigh, Jim Hamrick and his wife Cindy of Knoxville, TN. and Sarah Hamrick of College Park, MD. Grandaughter; Jenny Hamrick of Nashville TN, A sister; Jackie McDuffie of Raleigh, and Sister-in-law; Lucille Gross of Sanford, NC.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 25 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 99 N. Salisbury St. Raleigh, NC, with visitation to immediately follow. Burial will be private.
