He was born May 20, 1917, in Uniontown, Ohio, son of the late Roy Henry and Verna Belle (Slusser) Royer. Kenny was a beloved husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and a school bus driver for Randolph and Waterloo Schools for 39 years.
Kenny was very active in the Randolph community. He was a lifetime member of the Randolph Fire Department, charter member of the Randolph Lions Club, served as a member of the Randolph Fair Board and as a Randolph Township Trustee. He was also a special deputy of the Portage County Sheriff’s Department and a board member of the Portage County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Margaret “Peggy” Royer; children: Jacquelyn (Dennis) Govan-Olic of Randolph, Deborah Royer of Edgewater, MD, Kenneth Royer Jr. of Randolph, David (Aggie) Royer Sr. of Randolph; grandchildren: Lizette Royer, Kenneth Royer III, David Royer Jr., Bill Govan, Nicholas Royer, and Mike Govan; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his brother Delbert.
Friends will be received Friday, March 25, 2011, from 4-8 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, OH 44266. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Robert Cheyney and Reverend James Lang at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the Advent Lutheran Church, 1516 Edison St., Uniontown, OH 44685. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph.
