OBITUARY
Richard Allen Ahrens Sr.
March 12, 1945 – March 30, 2014
Richard Allen Ahrens, Sr., passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014.
He was born on March 12, 1945 to Stella (Socha) Ahrens and Carl Ahrens in Ravenna, Ohio. Richard attended Crestwood High School with the graduating class of 1964, going on to become a medical corpsman in Vietnam in 1965. He worked as a machinist and retired in 1985 from Stock Equipment in Chagrin Falls. Richard enjoyed his association with the Streetsboro Eagles, the Streetsboro American Legion and the Ravenna Moose Club. He was a “jack of all trades” and a true outdoorsman enjoying his time hunting and fishing. Richard loved animals, enjoyed music and liked to dance. He was a motorcycle enthusiast but most of all was a wonderful husband and father who loved his family.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Jackie (Edwards) Ahrens and his two children: Michelle (Ahrens) Savory and Richard A. Ahrens, Jr. and his wife Jillian (Henkle) Ahrens. He is survived also by his granddaughter Katherine Savory, his brother Kenneth Ahrens and his sister Elaine Ahrens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Thomas and his step-son Henry “Hankie” Meyers.
Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. where funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 3rd at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg.
