OBITUARY

David Leonard Michael Galon

December 23, 1952May 6, 2020

David Galon, known to most as “Uncle Dave”, passed away on May 6, 2020 at the age of 67 from a heart attack. Born in Saskatoon, SK in 1952, David resided most of his life in Regina, SK. He attained a Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Regina and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Manitoba. David was a pharmacist and proud owner of several pharmacies in Regina, Calgary, and Edmonton where he went above and beyond to treat every customer with the same care and generosity he extended to his own family. David was very social and active within the golfing community, developing countless friends both on and off the golf course. He was extremely excited for the upcoming golf season as he transitioned to retirement. He may not be physically part of your foursome but you know he will be there walking or riding along side of you. His selfless and kind nature meant he always made sure those around him were well looked after. Although he was officially “Uncle Dave” to his immediate family, it was his constant care for others that made him “Uncle Dave” to almost everyone. He will be missed in many places throughout the community, but most of all in our hearts. David is survived by his brothers Dennis (Dorothy), Brian (Carol), and Philip (Patricia); sister-in-law Linda; nephews Michael (Leah), Christopher (Laura), Jeffrey, Jason (Jami), Stephen (Tanya) Daniel, Trevor; nieces Shannon, Jennifer (Jay), and seven great nieces. David was predeceased by his parents John and Eleanor Galon and brother Kenneth. The family wishes a special thank you to all his great friends and health care workers who helped him through his recent medical challenges over the past 3 years. David was cremated on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. A memorial services will be held at a later date when we can safely gather publicly to honor his memory. So many memories, stories and good times we all had with Uncle Dave. Golf was the passion that brought us together as a great group of friends but it only grew from there...hockey road trips, winter golf trips, Super Bowl & Stanley Cup parties and many more good times. Keep everybody up there on their toes Uncle Dave, RIP until we get together again.

Uncle Dave was such a generous and caring person and very set in his ways. There was no way you could win a dispute with Davey but everyone knew that. I was really looking forward to more rounds of golf with him, the game he loved. Rest In Peace my friend, you will be sadly missed.

It was with total disbelief and sadness when I learned of Dave’s passing. The years we spent as classmates at the University of Manitoba allowed us to share many fun and challenging times. His quick smile, sense of humour and dedication to his profession all are strong memories. May you Rest In Peace Dave. To his family and friends may your many memories bring you peace and comfort

I was in disbelief learning of Dave's passing. I recall in our undergraduate classes and clinical work Dave brought humour, professionalism and just a good sense of friendship to all around him. I have fond memories of our many good times at University. I am especially glad we reconnected briefly at our 40th class reunion. It was good to catch up with Dave. My prayers go out to Dave, his family and friends. He will be missed by all.

I've been looking back in my photo albums and yearbooks for pictures of my classmate Dave fromU of M Pharmacy Class of 79. What can I say about the ever smiling, calm pinball wizard,,great sense of humor ,superior partier and kind guy that taught me how to do tequilla shots and didn't report me to the police when I stole his car? I enjoyed our recent phone reunion (of 44 years) in Dec. and am so very sad that I will never see him again.

Wow, I can't believe we are without our classmate Dave. A stellar guy with the great ability to have fun, but also to be a true professional when called upon. I know he helped many people in his practice and he will be missed by so many . He also helped many of us get through the tough undergraduate time, with his great sense of fun and humor. I was able to see Dave a couple of times recently, and now realize how important it was to take the time to reconnect. He will not be forgotten by his classmates and my deepest sympathies to his family and many friends......

I will always treasure the times we've had as classmates together in pharmacy school. Shortly after graduation, I worked for a short time in Regina at Pinder's Drugs on fourth street and Dave came to visit me. He hung around with me for a time while I was working. I don't remember what we talked about but it was fun chatting with him. I remember enjoying spending that time together.
Recently we connected on the phone at Puerta Vallarta last December and he said that he would come to our next class reunion. I know I will miss seeing him again then, but I will forever treasure our memories together. Hugs to Dave's family and friends at this sad time.
