Janet Marion Getz

December 6, 1940May 19, 2020

It is with great sadness that we say, “‘til we meet again” to our mom, Janet Getz, who went to be with dad, May 19, 2020. She is pre-deceased by her parents Frank and Mary Currie; her husband Wendelin Getz and, her brother Donald Currie. Janet Marion Getz (Currie) was born December 6, 1940 in Mawer, SK. She married Wendel on July 27, 1973 and they raised their four children on Wendel’s home farm north of Francis. They moved to Spalding in 1996, then later to Fort Qu’Appelle. A few years after dad passed away, she moved to Calgary for a year and then back to Regina to St. Paul’s Place in 2015. She had some good friends at St. Paul’s Place but sadly had to leave and go to Fillmore Heath Centre after her cancer treatments. Mom loved fishing, playing cards, doing puzzles, spending time with her family and friends, and of course creating her beautiful works of art. Janet leaves behind to mourn, her children Wendi (Verne) Lang, Dylan and Hallie; Cindy (Dean) Degelman, Evan, Austin, and Georgina; Tammy Glas, Devyn and Bryn; Randall (Gina) Getz, Luna and Reuben; her sister Anne Lloyd; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Family would like to thank Fillmore Health Centre staff for going above and beyond in their care of mom, all the staff at Allan Blair Cancer Centre for their help and kindness through mom’s illness as well as Father Abello for all his assistance and prayers.

There will be a private funeral for immediate family only on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life and an interment for public attendance will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to do so may donate in Mom’s memory to the Allan Blair Cancer Center or to the Fillmore Health Centre Residents’ Fund.

Her family requests all to give a parent, relative, friend, and neighbour in need a call or visit in this exceptional and lonely time.

We were good friends with your whole family for many years. Janet was a dear lady, played beautifully on (?) instrument, was a wonderful artist. We have a charcoal picture of Sitting Bull from 1985. I saw animal pictures, she painted many. 3 of Janet and Wendel's children were in our 3 older children's grades. Tammy was Ali's best friend all through school. We often see Randy and Gena and enjoy talking to them. We are so sorry for all of you and wish you our love and all the best.

I met the Getz family many years ago, and each one of them treated me as a part of their family. Janet was like a mother figure to me and I will always have a special place in my heart for her. Sending my most sincere sympathies to Cindy, Tammy, Randy, and Wendy and all their families. "Until we meet again" Janet ❤❤❤

To all of Janet’s family our condolences and prayers. We will miss our “farm days” at the Getz ranch. Especially Janet wielding a shot gun shooting those pesky crows off her newly planted lawn!! All the giggles and good times we enjoyed together as families hopefully will bring some smiles to your faces at this time !!
