February 10, 1937 - January 7, 2024
It is with loving thoughts and lasting memories that we announce the passing of Mildred Marie Schatz (nee Ehman) of Regina, SK at the age of 86. Mildred passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband John; parents Leo and Eva Ehman; sisters: Sister Loretta, Doreen (Val) and Kathleen (John); and her brothers Gus (Matilda) and Peter (Charlotte). Mildred is survived by five children Susan (John), Wayne (Blanche), Kathy (Gord), Eric and Janice (Glen); grandchildren Jerrod (Sharon), Kristine (Ryan), Eric (Kelsey), Adam (Katelan), Kurtis (Kayla), Matthew, Payge (Jim), Blayse, Joey and Robert (Amber); 13 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Mildred was born on the Ehman homestead near Holdfast SK. She grew up in a deeply spiritual family with a great love of music and song; playing the piano gave her great joy. Together with John they made their home, enjoying 65 years of marriage together, watching their family grow and thrive. She was a homemaker, piano teacher and gave of her time freely; singing in the choir, playing the church organ, a member of CWL and Opti-Mrs. The “Schatz” family always had the welcome mat out for gatherings, banquets, pool parties and card games. Mildred loved to host dinners, the more the merrier. She mastered the arts of cooking and baking, many receiving her care packages. Guests were so comfortable they would bring containers to take leftovers home; it was truly the miracle of Loaves and Fishes. In her retirement she made the transition from a small town to the big city. Regina became her home, cherishing her “old” friends and making new ones. She kept in touch, over the phone, sharing and supporting those near and far. She enjoyed visiting, laughs and snacks along with a good glass of red wine. She was active to the end with her morning walking group, sing songs and coffee buddies. A loving and dedicated wife and mother will be forever remembered as a gentle soul with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. A life well lived.
