Adrian Cornelis Barends
March 9, 1946 – November 23, 2019
Adrian Cornelis Barends, 73, of Pottstown entered eternal life on Saturday, November 23, 2019, Pottstown Hospital – Tower Health. He was born March 9, 1946 in Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands to Simon Hendrick Adolf and Johanna Hendrika Jacoba (Lugten) Barends.
Adrian worked as a concrete laborer for Universal Concrete, where he worked for 27 years. If you knew Adrian, you knew he loved his boat. He felt at home out on the water and enjoyed going boating whenever he had the chance. He also enjoyed telling jokes, making people laugh, loved dancing, and loved fixing things himself. However, Adrian absolutely treasured playing with his grandchildren and spending time with “pop”.
His wife, Debra Ann (Weller) Barends with whom they shared 21 years of marriage together; daughter Jennifer Harper and her husband Eric of Pottstown; son Shannon Barends and his wife Melinda of Fleetwood, PA; his sister Martha Thatcher of Florida and nine grandchildren will carry on Adrian’s spirit. In addition to his parents, his brother Henry Barends and daughter Cheryl Long greeted Adrian in heaven.
Family & friends will gather to celebrate Adrian’s life on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Aumans Inc., 390 W. My Stepdad Adrian was a hardworking man who worked very hard to provide for our family. He was loving, caring, funny, and one of a kind. From the first day he met my mom, he treated her with love and respect. He made her so happy, and I can't thank him enough for that, because that is all I ever wanted for her. I met him when I was sixteen, and although at first it was difficult because I was a stubborn teenager, he accepted me as part of his family. Later he considered me a daughter, and that meant a lot to me. When my grandmother passed away, my grandfather could no longer live in his house, my Stepdad never hesitated to let my Pop move in with him and my mom. Adrian truly had a big heart, and loved his family very much. I miss him so much already. He will always have a place in my heart. I will forever keep his memory alive. I love You to the Moon and Back Dad!! ♥️♥️♥️
