She was the loving wife of the late Glenn Letcher, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.
Born in Pottstown on May 13, 1944, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Helen (Schwartz) and Howard Detwiler. She graduated from Pottstown High School in 1962, and was a cheerleader throughout junior and high school, which included the football team’s undefeated season in 1961.
Bonnie spent 27 years as a librarian aide at both Jacksonwald and Owatin Creek Elementary Schools; and summers found her working in the office at the Antietam Pool.
Annual trips down the shore fostered Bonnie’s love of the ocean, and Stone Harbor, NJ, became a beloved destination for her throughout her life. She loved sitting by the water and reading, and exploring new restaurants and attractions along the shore. Bonnie was, until the very end, an incredibly enthusiastic and optimistic person, and someone who truly valued bonds of friendship and family. From her longtime PHS friends, to her breakfast crew in Exeter, to her active involvement in the Pottstown Doe Club, she always made time to meet, check in on friends, and enjoy life.
Bonnie treasured her family, and they will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, in 2019. She is survived by her daughter, Karin, of Narberth, PA; her son, Mark, and his wife, Jeanene, of Crown Point, IN; three grandchildren, Rebekah, Christopher and Jonathan, all of Crown Point, IN; and her brother, Terry Detwiler, and his wife, Jane, of Douglassville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be planned at the discretion of the family.
Auman's Inc Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family. Memories and online condolences can be shared at www.aumansinc.com
