Charles B. Schukraft, 91, of Pottstown, PA, entered eternal rest surrounded by his loving family Friday, June 25, 2021, at Seasons Hospice & Pallative Care. Born June 20, 1930 in Fleetwood, he was the son of the late Gustav & Anna (Bregler) Schukraft.
Charles was a graduate of Fleetwood High School. He proudly served his country, enlisting in the US Air Force on July 15, 1948 and was honorably discharged on July 14, 1952. His love for his country and military led him to hold memberships with the American Legion - Spring City, Fleetwood and Laureldale. Charles also was a member of the Moose Lodge, PA State Fireman's Association and held lifetime memberships to numerous fire companies; including but not limited to Norco,Temple, Amity, Goodwill and Upper Pottsgrove.
Charles worked as a dock loader for the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., until his retirement. He was an avid bowler and loved eating ice cream. Charles could eat a half gallon in one sitting. His favorite was chocolate but he would virtually eat any flavor.
Charles spirit will be carried on by his 6 children Phyllis Kitchick and her husband Joe, of East Coventry, Patricia McBride - wife of the late Charles McBride, of Coatesville; Carolynn McMichael and her husband Robert, of Autobahn, Sheryl Kutz, of Pottstown, Debbie Beller, of North Carolina, and Charles Schukraft and his wife Wendy, of East Coventry. Charles also leaves behind 18 grandchildren; Connie Stroup and her husband Kenneth, Sean McBride, Kenneth McBride and his wife Jeneane, Tiara McBride, Robert Buchanon and his wife Krissy, Phyllis Buchanon, Amy Buchanon, Tara Longacre and her husband Mike, Rebecca Schoedler and her husband Scott, Byron Kutz, Angel Dotterer and her husband Karl, Crystal Vowell and her husband James, Preston Kutz, Eric Kutz, Charles Schukraft, John Schukraft, Alyssa Schukraft, Micheala Schukraft and 36 great grandchildren to cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, Charles was greeted in heaven by his 3 brothers Gustav W. Schukraft, Albert E. Schukraft, Floyd H. Schukraft and 3 great grandchildren.
A graveside committal with military honors for Charles will be held Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10 AM at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 391 W. Neversink Rd. Reading, PA 19606. To commemorate his memory, the family would like to invite friends and family to join them from 11AM- 2PM, at Norco Fire Co., 144 W. Schuylkill Rd. Pottstown, PA 19465 (Use the Hanover St. entrance). Please come prepared with funny memories or uplifting stories about Charles so they know it’s okay to smile through their tears.
