James Barry Kandior

1957 – 2018

James Barry Kandior passed away quietly at his home on November 10, 2018 at the age of 61. He was born in Seattle, Washington to John and Jessie Kandior on July 1, 1957 the fourth of five children. James grew up in Hobart Washington and graduated from Tahoma High School.

He developed a love for trying new things as a young man. After high school he took up skydiving, received his pilot’s license flying single-engine planes, and was certified in scuba driving. He also enjoyed fishing for salmon in the ocean, riding motorcycles and body building, winning 3rd place in a Mr. Seattle bodybuilding contest. Whatever James did, he put his all into it.

While working for Pan Abode Cedar Homes, he developed an interest in work working and built several beautiful bird houses and bird feeders that looked like miniature log cabins. His family loved receiving his beautiful creations.

While most guys join the military right after high school, James decided at age 26, to join the Navy and travel the world. He received an honorable release for his 4 years of service.

When James came back to the Maple Valley area, he received a job working for Boeing that lasted 28 years. He liked the work and could be depended on to do anything they asked. James ended his Boeing career fabricating metal for the wings of the 777. He was a loyal Boeing worker and told his family he would have continued working if possible, but his deteriorating health caused him to take early retirement.

James was an honest, frugal, hardworking, man. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jessie Kandior, sister Patricia Joan Kandior Anardi, and sister-in-law Cris Duncan Kandior.

James is survived by sisters Barbara (Randy) Goehner of Spokane WA, Pamela (Scott) Morrill of Logan UT, and brother John Kandior of Maple Valley, WA along with 10 nephews and a niece.
