The year was 1953. Aunt Nadine and her youngest sister Aunt Sandra along with two best girlfriends, Ginger and Gloria were asked to babysit for me and my brother. We were all at the Maletta home in Renton.
As the day progressed the teenagers took turns sitting in a bathtub filled with water. The purpose was to shrink boys Levis
so that the jeans fit the girls curves. This was a time when jeans were made for boys and not girls. They then walked around for hours while the pants dried on them, molding to their curves. Needless to say it was an interesting afternoon and I learned how to shrink Levis.
.Aunt Nadine also instructed me on how to attach playing cards to my bicycle spokes so that when pedaling, a noise emitted from the bike, which back then was considered very cool. Lastly I have a fond memory of a birthday cake she made for my 11th birthday
A storybook doll stood in the middle of a lavendar frosted cake. The cake was constructed to resemble an elegant gown that the doll was wearing.
Aunt Nae will be missed, but great memories of her will live on.
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day, be at my side to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen

John and family, I would like to thank Nadine for being a special person in our lives. Nadine shared her home and many times shared great meals with us at her house. She was always caring and concerned with all of us in the Maplewood Neighborhood. She was appreciated for all her kindness and generosity as we grew up in Maplewood. Thanks for sharing your wife and mother with all of us. Love always, Chip Johnson
