Jason (Jake) Laverne Arthur Churchill, 66, of Fairmount, ND and Brooklyn Center, MN, passed away February 26, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society in Robbinsdale, MN, with his son Jason and daughter Melissa by his side.
Jake was raised in Cross Forks, PA until he joined the United Air Force as a Security Police Officers. Shortly after retiring from the military, he joined the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
Jake was renowned for his lack of patience, not holding back his opinion and he had a knack for telling it like it is. At the same time, he loved to laugh, play practical jokes and to tell inappropriate jokes. He learned what he wanted to learn, fixed what he wanted to fix and loved who he wanted to love.
In his spare time, he loved spending time with family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed sharing that love with his children and grandchildren by teaching them how to hunt and fish.
Jake also loved strawberry milk shakes, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, cheesy eggs, the History Channel, reality tv, like American Pickers, taking naps in his recliner, classic country music, steel guitar and all of the dogs. He had a passion for collecting fishing lures and knives and attending auctions.
Jake was preceded in death by his grandparents, and both of his parents. He leaves behind his three children, Jason (LaVonne) Churchill, Melissa (Brad) Bromenshenkel and Justin (Melanie) Churchill. He has four granddaughters and 3 grandsons. He is also survived by four (?) brothers, three sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Everyone who remembers Jake is asked to celebrate his life in their own way. Raising a glass of their favorite drink in his memory would be quite appropriate. A Celebration of Life will be held in lieu of a service on April 21, 2018 from 5pm-9pm at the Wahpeton, ND, VFW.
Memorials may be made in Jake’s honor at: Cure PSP, 1206 York Road, Suite L-4, Lutherville, MD 21093 Or www.psp.org
