1934-2020
Age 85 of Bloomington, MN passed away peacefully at his home with his children by his side. He was greeted in heaven by his sweetie Lois and his Savior Jesus Christ. His finals days were made comfortable and peaceful by his children, with the help of MN Hospice.
Larry was born on Aug 1st, 1934 in Cherry Grove Township, Minnesota. After high school he joined the Navy Reserves in Minneapolis, Minnesota from 1952-1955. He was on active duty from 1955-1957 where he was stationed at the Aewron Fifteen, Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland. He was an airplane mechanic and his main priority was repairing the gas tanks. He was in Newfoundland for 6 months and then travelled to Bermuda. Larry married his sweetheart Lois on April 23rd, 1960 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Both their parents and dear friends Joe and Darlene Poole witnessed the celebration of their marriage. He worked in road construction (Black Top, Paving, Curb & Gutter) until retirement. He also got his chauffeur license so he could drive for the Richfield Bus Co. hauling high school kids to their sporting events. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, eating dinner at Cracker Barrel, Perkins, IHOP, and Bernie’s to just name a few. He enjoyed watching his kids play sports, tinkering with his car or any piece of equipment for that matter. Bowling every other Friday was a fun activity as well. Classic country music was one of his favorite genre’s. Always a phone call away to help regardless of the time of day. The ultimate handy-man and human GPS. Larry and Lois would jump in the car and just drive on an adventure whether that was stopping unexpectedly at someone’s house to drop in to say hello or just driving the countryside and enjoying each other’s company. Sunday Fun Days will forever be with your sweetie.
Larry is survived by his children, Brian (Lynn) of Duncanville, TX, Susan of Burnsville, MN; grandsons, Matt Delaney of Prosper, TX and Andrew Delaney of Arlington, TX; and many other friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois McGinley; parents, Martin (Gertrude) McGinley; brothers, Ronald McGinley and Vernon McGinley (Judy).
A celebration of Larry and Lois' lives will be celebrated at a later date.
