Tennant Bryan award for the best feature story published in the Times-Dispatch in 2004 and an Outstanding Media Professional recognition by the Virginia Alliance for the Mentally Ill in 1993.
Alberta graduated from Highland Springs High School in 1960, followed by a journalism degree in 1964 from Richmond Professional Institute, now Virginia Commonwealth University.
At Southminster Presbyterian Church, she was a founding member, an elder and author of a church history. After she moved to Westminster-Canterbury Richmond, she was an active volunteer in the chapel there.
Memorial services will be held at Westminster-Canterbury on Monday, December 18 at 2 p.m.
Donations in her memory will be welcomed at Southminster Presbyterian Church, Westminster-Canterbury Foundation or a charity of your choice.
