A native of Richmond, VA, Mrs. Seslar was the daughter of the late Earle Samuel Sheffield and Gladys Wright Sheffield. She was a member of Christ Ascension Episcopal Church in Richmond, VA.
Mildred was preceded in death by her siblings Lorraine S. Schaaf, Earle S. Sheffield, Jr., Lillian S. Flournoy, Lucille S. Flournoy, and Barbara S. Alley. She is survived by her daughters, Daylon S. McCarty (William) of Providence Forge, VA, and Kathy S. Dickens (Thomas Dickens, II) of Seneca, S.C.; a brother, James E. Sheffield of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, Kimberley Love (Nathan) of San Luis Obispo, CA, Thomas L. Dickens, III (Mackenzie) of Tallahassee, FL, Nicole D. Smith (Lance) of Powdersville, SC, Jennifer M. Britton (Michael) of Mechanicsville, VA, Jonathan M. Dickens (Marie) of Clemson, SC, and Amy M. Price (Jason) of Mechanicsville, VA; and eight great-grandchildren, Seth, Nolan, Colby, Joshua, Noah, Samantha, Molly-Gray, and Drew.
Her legacy is family and through her constant, selfless love and support, future generations were able to learn what true sacrificial love is all about.
A visitation will be held Saturday from 10am to 11am at Christ Ascension Episcopal Church, 1704 West Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23227 with funeral services starting at 11am. Officiated by Rev. David Keill. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park in Sandston, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Ascension Episcopal Church.
