
The Life & Legacy of Vernard Anthony Rasberry Vernard Anthony Rasberry, 63, peacefully passed on Sunday, October 15, 2017. Born June 14, 1954, in Richmond, VA, he was the son of Calvin and the late Ruth Cooper Rasberry. He received his education and graduated from John Marshall High School in Richmond, Va. Vernard had a passion for fixing things which led to his graduation from the Richmond Technical Center as a Licensed Technician. He married and of that union fathered one daughter, Tamela Nadine Woodson-Cox. Vernard went on to pursue a 33-year career with Sears Roebuck and Company as a Technician. He had an immense love for his job and people. Vernard accepted Christ and became a member of Cedar Street Baptist Church in 1983. He served on the Usher Board through 1990. In 1992, Vernard married Shirley Rasberry and began attending service at Trinity Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. A. Lincoln James Jr. Vernard was kind, loving, and embodied a gentle, quiet spirit. He had several favorite pastimes including sports, fixing things, and cooking out with family and friends. Most of all, his family was of great importance to him. He often called his grandchildren “A Gift from God.” Vernard was blessed with one daughter, three bonus children, thirteen grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Cooper Rasberry, and maternal and paternal grandmothers. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife, Shirley Rasberry; daughter, Tamela Nadine Woodson-Cox (Stephon); Father, Calvin Rasberry; sister, Carleise Douglas-Boulden (Wilbert); brother, Klydone Rasberry; three bonus children; son, Linwood Hill; daughters Katrina Chavis (Tommy) and Natasha Delaney-Brooks (Emanuel); grandchildren, Synae, Stephon, Jr, Lemeem, Myrakal, DeAzian, Keanna, Percy, Shaylin, Emonei, Shakita, Helana, Jerymiah, Emani and Haylo; aunts, Denise Robinson (Elwood); Brenda Cosby (Jerome); Jean Kanrane (Malon);devoted sister-in-law, Barbara Moody;devoted friends; Percell Wortham, John Barrett, Gladys Crumpler, Christine Henderson, Levondre Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and great-lifetime friends.
