OBITUARY

Lonnie Mae Ledlow

July 1, 1924May 8, 2021

Lonnie Fancher Ledlow, passed away on Saturday, May 8th at St. Catherine's Village in Madison, MS at the age of 96. Lonnie was preceded in death by her parents John Godfrey & Pearl Fancher and her loving husband of 66 years, George Maston Ledlow. She is survived by her children Dianne Murphree (Murph), Anita Hunt (Drew), and David Ledlow; her grandchildren Whitney Johnson (Jay), Preston Saucier, Chris Murphree (Shelby), Jason Hunt, Jessica Hunt (Nathan), Lindsey Eichelman (Jonathan), and Laith Stuart (Neely); great grandchildren Maston and Anders Johnson, Brayden and Brookelyn Saucier, Henry Murphree, Abigail and Ava Smith, Hank Eichelman and Joyce Stuart. Lonnie grew up in Decatur, MS where she was an honor student and served on the tennis team. She met the love of her life in 1938 and they married after the war on March 18, 1945. They spent the majority of their married life in Jackson where she was actively involved in the Northeast Jackson bridge clubs, garden club, PTA and DAR. They were active members of Woodland Hills Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for the Young Woman's Class for many years.

We would like to thank her wonderful neighbors, Flo and Jim Watts and Patsy Robinson; and care givers Eula Thomas and Marian Brooks who took such loving care of her while she lived at home. We would also like to thank Dr. Holland Addison, Sister June and the staff of St. Catherine's for their loving care over the years. Our special thanks goes out to Sandra Dunn Vincent for always being there for her every need since none of us live in Jackson.

Our parents were one of those special couples who were "joined at the hip" as Southerners would say...true soulmates. None of us thought she would live very long after Dad passed away; but now it has almost 10 years. She has been earnestly praying for years for Jesus to "take her home." Last Christmas she looked up innocently and asked "do you think Jesus forgot I am down here?" So it is now with mixed feelings and emotions that we celebrate her life on earth, but release her to join her beloved sweetheart in Heaven.

Due to the conditions of our world today, we will simply have a family graveside service at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Judes, Batson's Children Hospital or the charity of your choice.
