Dorothy Vivian Williams

Dorothy Vivian Hicks was born on June 2, 1931 in Barry, Texas to her loving parents, Chester Alexander Hicks and Inez Jones Hicks. While living in Texas, Dorothy attended Ferris School. It was a K to 12 one room school. The City of Ferris had one post office, small city hall, general store, sheriff station and one church.

Dorothy was the oldest of four siblings and was preceded in death by, James Chester Hicks, AKA, “Snooks”, Cassandra Hicks Turner, AKA “Charm” and Betty Ann Hicks Wimes.

At an early age with her family, Dorothy moved to San Diego, California, continued her education , graduated from Kearny High School, C,E.S School for Office Procedures and Office Machines, San Diego Junior College and Tuskegee Institute for General Education for Business and the Medical Institute of Los Angeles for Lab X-ray.

Dorothy worked at the San Diego Welfare Department as a typist clerk, a receptionist for Girl Scout of America Office. She became a caretaker for the elderly at IHSS Welfare Department

Dorothy met Henry J. Williams in 1956 in San Diego, California. They were married for over 58 years.

Shortly thereafter, Dorothy dedicated her life to Jehovah on October 12, 1957, and became a faithful servant of Jehovah, which included the privilege of full time Pioneering. Dorothy assisted many in coming to know and love Jehovah. Many brothers and sisters, and family members will truly miss her.

After raising her family, she went back to work for the Riverside Board of Supervisors Office as well as a Special Education Instructional Aide for the Riverside School District.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Clarence L. Williams and leaves to mourn her passing her son Michael B. Williams Sr., daughter Karen A. Williams, daughter Angela K. Quidor, daughter Shirl J. Williams and daughter Tina K. Lee.

Grandchildren, Brendan O. Williams, Christopher I. Williams, Michael Williams, Jr., Michelle C. Hill, preceded in death Louis Williams, Trina Jones and Kendra Courtenay.

Twelve Great grandchildren, Three Great Great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
