Gosh, ran across this by accident...I'm assuming Buddy was the son of Void Acrey..I am a grandson of Dewey Acrey, voids brother...I was a good friend and cousin to Louise years ago...Sorry to hear this...

We were very close friends of the Acrey family for many years. How we miss Bud, his charm, wit, and wry sense of humor. Also the many meetings for lunch with him and Lil. He has left an empty place in our hearts. We can't believe he has left. We seem to keep looking for him everywhere we go. We miss you Bud!

My name is Norman Doughty. Ed and I met at Lowry AF base in 1950 when we both went through the school of basic electronics and were subsequently assigned to teach the course. We were both Californians, age 20, and with the same outlook on almost everything, so we got along well. A couple of our stunts still make me smile. Of the many memories I have, one of my favorites is that Ed, ever the entrepreneur, began a business where he (or probably more accurately, his father) raised matched pairs of parakeets with the intention of selling them nation- wide. But a heat wave struck Riverside and almost all of them died. On another occasion, we both got out of KP duty when Ed faked an injury at the garbage can cleaning area and we both went to hospital. I appreciated his sense of humor and we had more laughs than tears.

Strangely, though Ed and I had not maintained contact for many years, I recently got the urge to find my old friend. To my dismay, I found his obituary on Google. I regret that I was too late.

Ed was intelligent, witty and sincere. He made the little part of the world wherein he moved a better place.

Ed was my friend and partner, and an important part of my life. By now, he is probably improving how things work up there, somehow making it better.
