My husband Bruce and i considered gertrude a dear, loving friend. We have only know her a couple of yrs since my mother was living at the assisted living home and shared a seat at their dining table. Gertride always greeted us with a warm smile and enthusiasm. We loved to share stories and experiences and it was very obvious how much her family meant to her and how she cared so deeply for them. We already miss stopping by at meal time and pulling up a chair and sitting with a cup of coffee and catching up on news. I recently gave her a daily devotional which she discussed with me at our last visit, a memory i will always cherish. My sincere sympathies to the family, your mother will be missed and dearly remembered. Barbara and Bruce Fritsch

Aunt Gert, when you so kindly appointed yourself my "Other Mother" I was given an invaluable gift and memories that will last my lifetime. How I will miss your candor and wit, your support and encouragement, not to mention your razor-sharp mind and your laugh! As I whispered to you the last time we were together, "I love you always."

Dear Wambach family,
Your Mom and Grandma was such a warm, wonderful person, and I always enjoyed spending time with her and listening to her stories. It always amazed me how she went back to school and continued her education after so many decades away from academia, and did so well too boot. Who but her would have thought she had more to learn after raising such a big family and decades of life's lessons, but she was always expanding her mind!
I wish we could be there with you all tomorrow and learn more about her as people are sharing their stories, but we are unable to get away from work obligations. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

It was always a pleasure to chat with Gert through the years, beginning in the 1950's when we first met.
We are grateful to have had one more visit with Gert at Brookdale last August on our way home to Maryland.
