Ann Creese Ashenbaugh

Ann Creese Ashenbaugh, (nee Jacqueline A. Phillis), 81, of Beaver, formerly of New Brighton, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012. Most recently she was residing at Franciscan Manor, Beaver Falls. She was born May 31, 1930 in New Brighton, daughter of the late Harold and Mabel (nee Jack) Phillis. Ann attended Geneva College and then began long and rewarding careers with Westinghouse Electric, the News Tribune and Armstrong World Industries, work that she enjoyed until her retirement. Always civic minded, Ann felt privileged to serve on several boards and committees that included the New Brighton Area School District, the New Brighton Borough and Daugherty Township. In her younger years, Ann was a member, and served as a Past Worthy Matron, of the Order of the Eastern Star, she was involved with Chapters #173 and #124. She also enjoyed fostering friendships while involved in numerous other civic and social organizations in New Brighton. Ann was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Brighton. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her first husband: William A. Creese in 1981; her second husband: Ralph Ashenbaugh; and her sisters: Betty Mae Phillis and Louise Lane. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Robert and Barbara Creese, Crown Point, IN; her daughter and son-in-law: Sue Ann and Mike McNutt, New Brighton; four grandchildren: Chase McNutt, Shane McNutt, Susan Kilinski and Beth Gilligan; seven great grandchildren: Aaron and Bryce McNutt, Hampton, VA; Joshua and Ryan Kilinski, St. John, IN; Robbie, Erik and Jake Gilligan, Hopewell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday, February 26, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, in the funeral home with her pastor: The Reverend John B. Dickey, officiating. Additional visitation will be held from 9: 30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday morning. Private interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Monaca. If desired, memorial contributions may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church, New Brighton, 1199 Third Avenue, New Brighton, PA 15066. bob and sue -your mother is now in heaven with her family and friends-there is no more pain and suffering--our parents taught us well--you had successful lives and family--sorry i cannot attend your mother memorial service-i live in pensacola, fl--i will always remember the years growing up and how we went to visit each families during Christmas--its been long time since i seen you Bob-it has been almost 2 years ago i seen sue and her mother at my mothers memorial service--our parents were very hard workers and Christian believers--God forgvies our sins by blood of JesusChrist--i never forget this fact that our parents taught us--God bless you always with good safe days for all families and friends of your mother--paul arnold pensacola fl
