Donald H. Musgrave, 83, a lifelong resident of New Sewickley Township, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at his home. Donald was born November 28, 1929, son of the late Harold and Naomi (Freshcorn) Musgrave. He was a graduate of Rochester High School, Class of 1947. He then began employment with St. Joe Lead Company, Monaca as a Machinist Apprentice. Donald was inducted into the U.S. Army on October 11, 1951 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on October 10, 1953. Returning home, he continued working at St. Joe, which later became Horsehead Corporation. For a few years, Donald also worked at Babcock & Wilcox, Beaver Falls. Work associates will remember him as “Mussy”.
In his leisure, Donald enjoyed working around his home and in his yard. For a number of years, he was a member of bowling leagues at Beaver Valley Bowl, Rochester and Baden Bowl. He was a member of New Sewickley Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years: Betty Jean (Wickham) Musgrave; one son and daughter-in-law: Jeffrey and Carey Musgrave, Renton, WA; three daughters and sons-in-law: Loretta Ann and Bill Bingham, Smyrna, SC; Colette Ann and Zachary Taylor, Hilton Head Island, SC; Diana and Glenn Mitchell, New Brighton; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one sister: Isabelle Guy, New Brighton.
Friends will be received today from 6 to 8 p.m., and Thursday, February 7, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). His funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2013 in the funeral home with The Reverend Daniel Callahan, officiating. Private interment will follow in the John F. Kennedy Memorial Garden of Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
Military Honors will be presented by members of the Beaver County Special Unit at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, in the funeral home.
