Thomas "Tom" Restak

Thomas “Tom” Restak, 86, of Rochester, passed away Friday, February 1, 2019 while under the compassionate care of the Hospice Staff at Butler VA Hospital, and surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born August 3, 1932 in New Brighton, son of the late Thomas C. and Pauline (Palakovich) Restak. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Tom was an accomplished master carpenter who was well known for his meticulous attention to detail and his craftsmanship. He owned and operated Restak Construction. In addition to building his own home, he built many homes in Pennsylvania and Florida. His construction and restoration work in the communities of Altamonte Springs, Mount Dora and Orlando were featured in a variety home magazines. Tom was always happy inventing and working with his hands. He designed and built his own campers and mobile homes. He loved to travel all over the country with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Thomas Paul Restak in 2013; a brother: John Restak and sister: May Ann Ciani. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 59 years: Margaret (Tomaino) Restak; two daughters: Karen Restak, New Castle and Kathy Collins, Warrendale; three grandchildren: Michele (Corey) Pickard, Chippewa; Ernest Michael Grillo, Jr., Cranberry Township; Donald Patrick Collins, Warrendale; one precious great grandson: Brayden Thomas Pickard. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 at ST. CECILIA CATHOLIC CHURCH, Rochester. Everyone is respectfully asked to arrive directly at the church. Military Honors will be presented by members of the Beaver County Special Unit, 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum. Private interment will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. If desired, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Cecilia Catholic Church in loving memory of Thomas Restak. It was always a special day when Tom would come over to visit my dad. Sometimes dad would take us to see him at a home he was building. He was so cool to build a house! Just remember that Tom was always so nice to us kids. So sorry for your loss and you all will be in our prayers.
