Rex H. Soule
November 20, 1929 – March 17, 2021
Rex Holland Soule Sr., 91, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit in Rockledge, Florida. Rex was born November 20, 1929 in Grand Ledge, Michigan, and was adopted by Russell and Florence Soule. He fought in the Korean War as a member of the United States Army in which he achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant. He earned a BA from Wayne State University and later went on to earn an MS from Florida Institute of Technology. He married Rae Harrington on April 5, 1958. In 1959 they left Michigan and came to Brevard County where Rex worked for 32 years as a teacher at Sea Park Elementary and DeLaura Junior High School. He was an active member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and later Palmdale Presbyterian Church, where he served as the choir director for many years.
Rex is preceded in death by his wife Rae Soule and by his sisters Lynn Larkin and Suellyn Soule. He is survived by his children: Carla Mire (husband Steve) of Grey, LA; Rex Soule Jr. (wife Lori) of Thibodaux, LA; and Russell Soule (wife Ginger) of Melbourne, FL; his grandchildren: Erin Mire Richardson, Sean Mire, Annette Kimball, Jared Kimball, Bethany Kate Soule, Timothy Soule, Tabitha Soule, Josiah Soule, and great grandchild: Bernard Kimball.
A private grave side service will be held at Florida Memorial Gardens at 2 pm on April 7, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a gift in his name to ChildFund International (www.ChildFund.org) to which Rex was a 45 year donor.
