WILHELM, Otto A., age 68, passed away June 13 peacefully with his family at his side. Otto was born in Vöcklabruck, Austria to Adam and Rosina Wilhelm. The family immigrated to the United States in July 1955 and settled with fellow Franztaler’s in the Detroit area. Otto served in the 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment of the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1966, stationed in Germany during the “Cold War”. Many times Otto would refer to how special that time was and the tremendous impact it had on his view of the world. Otto graduated from Wayne State University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He had a successful career in banking. After several mergers and acquisitions Otto retired from Bank of America in 2011 as a Vice-President in Commercial Lending.
Otto was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Roseville. He served on the Roseville Planning Commission for over 20 years. Otto volunteered his time to the Boy Scouts of America and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.
Otto is survived by his wife Nancy (nee: Smith); sons, Otto (Melissa) Wilhelm, Jr. and Jesse (Linda) Kriebel; siblings, Theresa Dearhamer, Laura (Bud) Pogue, Peter Wilhelm and Joseph (Christine) Wilhelm; precious grandchildren, Gillian and Meghan Wilhelm; Nathan and Isabelle Kriebel. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all of us. Otto will forever be in our thoughts and in our prayers and we love him dearly.
