Born May 11, 1950, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the husband of Lisa McKnight Robinson. Mr. Robinson is
also survived by his former wife of thirty-five years, Cathy McBride Robinson of Woodstock, GA.
He was the son of the late Wallace A. Robinson Sr. and Drucie Nell Evans of Union, SC. A 1968 graduate of
Spartanburg (SC) High School, he graduated from Kettering University in Sterling Heights, MI, and was
employed with General Motors, Inc., for 33 years where he was instrumental as an engineer in designing
General Motors’ version of the minivan. Following his retirement from General Motors Inc. in 2005, Mr.
Robinson taught science and math at Elkins Pointe Middle School in Roswell, Fulton County, GA, until
his death. He was passionate about youth sports and served as a softball and baseball volunteer coach and
umpire in the Roswell, GA, community for 15 years.
Survivors also include four children—Kerry Robinson Powers (Kelly) of Columbia, SC; David Wesley
Robinson (Julie) of Alpharetta, GA; Lauren Anne Robinson of Woodstock, GA; Jeffrey Evans Robinson of
Roswell, GA; and two step-children - Lezlie Anne Whitmire Haddad of Myrtle Beach, SC and Lawrence
Alexander Whitmire of Holly Springs, GA. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Connor Powers,
Lila Powers and Brayden Cain.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Roswell Funeral Home,
located at 950 Mansell Road, in Roswell, GA. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on
Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Roswell Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
