Edward Frank Deachan

September 14, 1935March 14, 2020

Edward “Ed” Deachan, 84, of Hazelwood, MO passed away on March 14, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Irene Deachan; wife of 55 years, Darleen; son, David (survived by Cindy) Deachan; and a sister, Patricia Kunkel. Ed is survived by his children, Denise (Brian) Reid of Charleston, IL, Dennis (Diane) Deachan of Grandview, MO, and Darren (Tracey) Deachan of Florissant, MO; grandchildren, Sarah, Alex (Danielle), Bradley (Jennifer), Tiffany (Aaron), Justin (Anna), Greg (Jerica), and Michael (Jaclyn); great grandchildren, Ashley, Courtney, Hayden, Skyler, and Autumn; and brothers-in-law, Jack (Sue) Shearer and Gary (Dee Dee) Spindler. Dear uncle, cousin, and friend of many.

Ed was a fun-loving man who was always the life of the party. He enjoyed bowling and golfing and travelling across the country. He and Darleen had fun wherever they went—whether it was dancing or taking one of their many trips out West. Vegas was a favorite! Ed retired after 45 years with Union Electric and truly enjoyed his life with family and friends. He was a man of real character and was an amazing caretaker for Darleen when she became ill. His sense of humor and inability to be politically correct will never be forgotten. He was truly loved and will be missed.

The family has chosen a private service due to the limitations of gathering with COVID19. Ed will be laid to rest with his wife and son at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society and hopes you will express your condolences and share a fond memory on-line at www.alexanderstlouis.com. A memorial gathering and party to celebrate Ed will be held a later date.

Darren, Dennis and Denise - thinking of you and I am so sorry for your loss. Always a time of reflection, your (our) family has been on my mind all week and it just occurred to me that each time Uncle Ed floated through my thoughts, I found myself smiling. A rare gift and testimony to a life well-lived. Wishing you comfort and peace.

My best.

Although we only met Ed once at Dennis & Diane's wedding, Dennis' colorful stories about his Dad made us feel like we knew him well. Certainly Dennis' character speaks volumes about the kind of father who raised him. We are deeply saddened for the Deachan family and will pray for God's peace and grace for all.
Deepest Condolences and Lots of Love,
Michael & Vicky Meehan

Denise, Dennis and Darren -
I am so sorry for your loss. I too feel a loss of my friend from grade school , high school, married in same family and raised our kids together. Your Dad was a non-conforming rascal from the day I met him. Stayed that way all of our lives but never forgot his family responsibilities. He was a good man and fun to be around. I will miss him but never forget him.

I have SO MANY memories of Uncle Ed I can’t really single one out (or one that would be appropriate to put on this page). I loved to watch he and mom harass and tease each other. I remember living with them the summer before my wedding when mom moved back to Missouri. He always had us laughing, playing cards/games, swimming in the pool, etc and yet had a heart that cared deeply for his family and friends. I wish I had seen him more the last few years but am glad I could bring mom to his 80th bday party and see him at her celebration of life in August.
