Elsie "Marie" Grubbs

July 30, 1936November 24, 2018

Elsie “Marie” Barnes Grubbs, 82, of Maryland Heights, MO, was born in Farmington, MO on July 30, 1936 to Willard Barnes and Thelma Barnes (nee: Chamberlain), and raised in Knob Lick, MO. They have preceded her in death. Marie passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2018.

Marie was the loving wife of the late William M. Grubbs; beloved sister of Brenda Kay Pendergraff of Davenport, IA, and Debbie (Opie) Brown of Milan, IL, and of the late Robert “Bob”, Jim, Albert, Dale, Mary Ann, and Janice Darlene Barnes; and devoted friend of Nettie Irene Ivy of St. Louis, MO and her family. She was also a dear sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many.

Marie was the owner and operator of Grubbs Products for over 40 years, which was famous for Marie’s Caramel Apples. She was once an active member of the Missouri Eastern Star and a member of Christ Memorial Baptist Church. She worked very hard for many years and then thoroughly enjoyed her years of retirement. Marie enjoyed working in her yard, spending time outdoors especially at Creve Coeur Lake, shopping, and any opportunity to spend time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a caring, generous, and bossy lady who knew what she wanted and how she wanted it done. She will be greatly missed at her family’s Sunday dinners, birthday parties, and family reunions. Marie’s presence will truly be missed in all of the lives she has touched.

Memorial donations may be made in Marie’s name to Shriners Hospitals for Children – St. Louis or the Alzheimers Association.
