Avak Avanesovich Badyrov was born on November 13th, 1939 to Avanes and Maria Badyrov in the city of Kizlyar in the Republic of Dagestan of Russia. Avak is survived by his wife Rozaliya, son David, daughter Deana, son-in-law Kevin, and granddaughters Nicole and Emily.

He lived a joyful life working hard in the city of Baku, Azerbaijan Republic of Russia. He was always surrounded by his loving friends and family. In December of 1992, Avak and his family immigrated to St. Louis, Missouri with dreams of new beginnings. Avak worked different jobs and did not let his pride or language barrier get in the way of his success. He knew the importance of independence and self-achievement. In 1994, Avak and his wife Roza bought a shoe repair shop in Des Peres, MO and worked side by side for many years. It did not take long for the two of them to gain many trusting customers that remained loyal to their business until the last day he worked. Avak was always forward thinking and in time grew his business by adding an alteration service. His proficient work ethic was respected by many people. Avak’s kind-hearted personality allowed him to form many strong and faithful friendships with his customers and neighboring business owners. He was never afraid of challenges and was very resourceful in all aspects of his life. His dedication and sense of responsibility to work was inspiring.

He loved the people in his life and was always ready to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. He fell asleep in Christ on the Fourth of July 2020 surrounded by his family. Avak was deeply loved and will be missed.

We had a dozen pairs of shoes and boots repaired by Avak through the years and he was such a gem. Always a twinkle in his eye. What a beautiful family and legacy he leaves behind. May God comfort your hearts as you remember him and celebrate his homecoming with Jesus.

I have not been to his shop in a while but I had been going there for many years. He not only did great work but he was also friendly and kind. But he was also honest in telling you if something was not worth trying to repair. He must have hated the cheap shoes he saw. He will be missed for sure.

We are deeply sadden by the news of Avak's passing. He was such an energetic and positive force, he did not know a stranger and it was always a pleasure to visit with him. Avak made US his home 28 years ago and died on Independence Day as a true patriot of this country. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time.
