Dorothy Ann Huntze

March 25, 1922February 19, 2021

Dorothy Ann Huntze (nee' Oberfeld) passed away in her own home as she desired on Friday, February 19, 2021 at the age of 98.

Dorothy was the loving wife of the late Roy W. Huntze; devoted mother of Donna (Richard) Janis and Deborah (James) Tochtrop; loving grandmother of Richard (Holly) Janis, Timothy (Joni) Janis, Mark Janis, James Tochtrop, Jeff Tochtrop, Chad (Lauren) Tochtrop, Steve (Kim) Tochtrop, and Greg (Katie) Tochtrop, dear great-grandmother of Eric, Chloe, Ava Janis, and Harper, Estella, Audrey, Charlotte, and Augustus "Gus" Tochtrop; dear aunt, great-aunt, and a dear friend and neighbor to many in her lifetime.

Dorothy was born March 25, 1922 in St. Louis Missouri to Henry J. and Ida Oberfeld. She attended McKinley High School. She married Roy November 5, 1941 just before he was sent off to India during World War II. During the war, she worked at Bemis Bag Company. Later after Roy came home, they started their family, Donna in 1947 and Debby in 1950. By the time the 60's rolled around, Dorothy was working Leibe Lettering, and worked on the uniforms for the St. Louis Cardinals. Se did the birds on bats.

In her spare time, Dorothy was an avid seamstress, making most of the girls' clothes when they were kids. Later, she made dozens of quilts for her family. For all the daughters-in law, and the grandchildren, it was the most special gift. She loved her garden and when she was no longer able to tend it, her girls made sure there were flowers in her garden.

Dorothy was loving, and enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family, until COVID. She loved shopping and going to Macy's and Dillards. She even enjoyed her trips to the grocery store. She made it to the beauty shop until the very end.

Dorothy was treasured and will be dearly missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 23 from 4-8pm at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary 6464 Chippewa 63109. A Celebration of Dorothy's Life will take place Wednesday, February 24 at 9:30am at the funeral home. Interment with Roy at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy's memory to the Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated.
