I have known Edward and Kamala since 1970. Meeting them felt serendipitous and I knew we will be in each other’s lives forever. Edward has been my inspirational mentor. Agnes and I feel blessed to have had Edward and Kamala's friendship for the past several decades.

Edward Chellar will be remembered for his clever sense of humor, his affectionate demeanor, and his brilliant, inquisitive mind. He was kind, generous, and determined. He adored his family, enjoyed parties with his friends. He was an incredible man, who gave the best cuddles and loved music. He will be dearly missed by all of us.

Our deepest sympathies and condolences to Rochelle, Chantal and everyone in the family.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to Rochelle , Chantal and both the families. Also my sympathies to Marcella, George, Mathew and Shirley. I used to talk to him after he fell sick but in the recent months I could not reach him and could not talk to him. His advises to me are not forgotten. He must have joined Kamala and I am sure he is in Paradise. May his soul rest in peace.

We are so sorry that Uncle Edward has parted.

We feel so blessed to have had such a cherished, special, decades-long friendship with your family...more like our chosen family. It all began with Mummy and Aunty Kamala being classmates in Jaffna days. When I look back at old photo albums, I'm in awe of how Aunty Kamala came to my wedding in Sri Lanka, both Uncle and Aunty came to my wedding reception in Canada, they came to Maryland for my kids' 1st birthday, special milestone occasions, arangetram, Mohan's wedding, and the list goes on...in Boston and Richmond, VA.

During our Edmonton childhood days, we got to spend practically every weekend at each other's homes, staying up into the wee hours of the morning, Rochelle yawning away and Chantal dozing off. We would talk, play games, and watch movies together (they/especially Aunty Kamala was a Tamil movie buff). Uncle was talented and would play piano by ear while we all sang along. Uncle Edward would cook his famous yummy naan, spinach curry, homemade pizza, etc. There were b'day parties at Ponderosa, baseball games, dancing to Abba, Diana Ross, the Bee Gees, the Jacksons, etc. Uncle Edward was so fun-loving. He always knew how to relax and just have a good time. He would entertain us with his corny jokes and stories, and mix in some mini lectures for good measure! Uncle Edward really was a character! He lived large and was always so cheerful. He interacted with us kids more like pals than an Uncle.

Uncle Edward and Aunty Kamala were like a Sri Lankan Tamil power couple. They looked like movie stars. Uncle was so handsome and debonair. Rochelle used to liken him to Erik Estrada (Ponch-erello) on CHIPS. Aunty Kamala was definitely Uncle's better half...so beautiful, tall, slim, and like sunshine wherever she went. Both of them were always so friendly and exuded such warmth and caring towards others. May Uncle Edward RIP. We miss him.

Love, Rohini (Theva & Many)

Dear Rochelle & Chantal,

Please accept our deepest sympathies at this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace in the presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

"A wonderful heart will heal in time and when it does,
the memory and love of our loved ones are sealed
inside to comfort us."

Your Mum & Dad stayed with us when they visited Australia. We had a good time and we will cherish these memories for ever.

Dearest Rochelle & Chantal,
Our hearts and prayers are with you and your families at this difficult time.
We have such fond memories of Uncle. He always brightened a room with his warm and witty charm, always laughing and joking. We will miss him dearly but know and trust that he is now at peace and happy to be reunited with Aunty Kamala and other members of our dearest family. God bless them all. May he rest in peace.
With much love from Warrell, Uncle Andrew, Darrell & Family x

To my lovely Uncle Edward - you were so full of fun, so cheeky, and always teased me so much. May you rest in peace and I know you are happy, reunited with your brothers and your beautiful wife, my lovely Aunty Kamala.
To all the Cox and Byrne families - I know how hard it is, but hold those memories close and talk of them often. They always stay with us always.
Much love to you all, from us all, - Christl, Kyle, Angie, Caitlin, Shirley and Robert. x
