Fitzgerald, Mary C. fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Mother Church on August 14, 2020.

Mary C. Fitzgerald was born on October 29, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late John and Ann Leonard Fitzgerald. She is preceded in death by her three brothers, Stephen L., John and Thomas E. Fitzgerald.

Ms. Fitzgerald was a lifelong resident of St. Louis, attending Loretto Academy H.S. and later Webster University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Throughout her life Ms. Fitzgerald maintained countless friendships, many formed from her childhood and young adult life in the historic Compton Hills neighborhood of St. Louis where the family lived before relocating to Richmond Heights in the early 1960’s.

Ms. Fitzgerald continued her father’s legacy of working for a railway during her 40+ years as a devoted employee of Manufacturer’s Railway Company (div. of Anheuser-Busch Cos., Inc.), until she retired in the early 1990’s. Ms. Fitzgerald’s enthusiasm as a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and of the Budweiser brand never waned. Very late into her life she remained active in many social and cultural clubs, and she volunteered for several philanthropic organizations including Birthright STL. Ms. Fitzgerald was a devoted Roman Catholic, and for many decades a member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Richmond Heights, MO.

Though Ms. Fitzgerald never married, she played an important role in the lives of her nephew, nieces, dearest friends and her many godchildren. She was especially close to her brothers, her niece Jane Fitzgerald Hylton of Festus, MO and her great-nephew Justin G. Hylton of Dalton, GA. We will all greatly miss our spirited, generous, witty and gracious “Mary Fitz”.

The family of Ms. Fitzgerald would like to thank each member of the Delmar Gardens staff and the Pathways Hospice staff (especially hospice nurse Christina D.), each of whom lovingly cared for her at the end of her life.

A memorial service and life celebration will be announced at a later date, following a private interment at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials maybe made to: THE SERRA CLUB OF ST. LOUIS, 5200 GLENNON DRIVE, ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI 63119.

My dear Aunt Mary Fitz,

I already miss your presence in my life, but I am comforted in knowing that you are right now basking in the glory of God's eternal light and love -- and the thought of you reuniting with your precious brothers just fills my heart!

I hope that you knew how important you were to my life, and to Justin's, and having had your love and devotion to us was a gift we will treasure for all time.

In loving memory of our best days - This BUD's for Y-O-U!
