Wilma "June" Weathers

August 2, 1935June 10, 2021

Wilma "June" Weathers, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the age of 85.

June was the loving mother of Mona Lisa "Lisa" Patterson, Cuban (Duane Weber) Curcuru, James (Lisa) Weathers, and the late Eugene "Bud" Weathers, Jr.; cherished grandma of 14, great-grandma "Granny" of 26; dear aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, and a friend to many in her lifetime.

June worked as a machinist her entire working career, retiring at 61. She loved frying chicken and baking cakes and pies for her family. She made the BEST biscuits and milk gravy, if you needed breakfast after a fun night. For June, the door was always open and the coffee was hot and the dumplings were on.

She enjoyed fishing and usually caught the biggest fish. She loved to travel to visit family and friends. She was thrilled to be able to take an Alaskan cruise with her daughter, Cuban.

She loved to be around all the children. Each and every birth was a proud thrill for her. She enjoyed crocheting gifts for everyone. She made scarves, hats, potholders, dishrags, and a baby blanket at every birth. She crocheted an army of family together with love in every stitch.

She was an avid collector of "what-nots" and leaves them all to her family along with a legacy of love. She showed strength, faith, and grace always. "I'm fine." She has gone home to Heaven to join everyone she has missed. Whisked away by angels, she's dancing now.

"Today was a good day."

A visitation will be Wednesday, June 16 from 4-8pm at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road 63125. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 17 at 10am at the funeral home. Interment Mount Olive Cemetery.

Where do I begin… My mom was loved by everyone. She loved to travel and visit everyone and loved having visitors. I often call her home the “Weathers Manor” she loved collecting memories. Her home showed just that. It was how she wanted it up to the very end. I will miss her dearly and its a rough feeling when I think of her and how much she will be missed by everyone. Sure will miss the 4:00am phone calls. “Love you Momma” say hi to Bud for all is us.

Meeting the woman who raised my daughter-in-law, Sarah Jane Weathers, was a great honor and privilege. She was the cornerstone of her grandchildren’s lives. I wished so much I had gotten to know her long before the wedding day for she has the best personality and insight. She spoke directly and with honesty. She had a fantastic sense of humor. Losing her leaves a huge hole that simply cannot be filled. My heart is with the family and friends who were closest to this incredible woman.

My Dear Aunt June , the beautiful memories I have with you growing up. I remember you and my grandma Shirley always cooking together when we came to visit. You knew how to host when family came down. You opened your house to us all even if we piled up, Bc you insisted we are there with you. You would always make sure everyone ate , showered, and had a good visit. I remember the sound of your voice and how cheerful and happy you were. I remember you talking me fishing in your pond as a little girl. You ALWAYS helped Shirley make my Easter dresses and dress me. I look back at pictures and you made me look like a beautiful little doll. Your craft works , everything you did turned into gold. You were truly blessed with skills. To say I’m going to miss you is an understatement. I hope you find peace and joy and watch over all here. I know you’re in a better place . Tell my dad and gram I love them❤️ Love you aunt June

Cuban, James, Lisa and extended family:

Words cannot express the sadness that we all feel in our hearts for the loss of your mom. I met Aunt June when I was 21 yrs old and I am now in my late 50's. Your mom truly made an impression on my heart. Every time I saw her she would greet me with a smile and say “well hello there Sissy”. Through the years your mom had always treated me and my family very well. My memories of visiting her are so many yet the ones that stand out the most were when Ronnie and I would visit her home in the summer. She always had room for all of us and always extended an invitation for us to stay with her. In the mornings the smell of fresh coffee and fresh biscuits in the oven with her famous milk gravy cooking on the stove. The cooks outs with a variety of salads, pork steaks, hamburger's and hot dogs on the grill, potato salad, macaroni salad and her famous mayonnaise cake for desert, fresh iced tea and cold watermelon. She really knew how to host people and make them feel welcomed. When there wasn't a cook out, she would be whipping up her delicious chicken spaghetti! One thing that we all know about your mom was that her family meant EVERYTHING to her. Her son and daughters, son in-laws and daughter in-laws, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and, her great great grandchildren were important to her. You were her shining lights. When she said “I love you” to someone she meant it. I love you too Aunt June and you will always remain a part of my most cherished memories and in the hearts of my children and I. Cuban, James and Lisa, I want to say thank you for sharing her with us. May you find comfort in the memories within your hearts and peace be with you.

With deep respect and love,

Being the 1st grandchild my grandma has always been my buddy. She has taught all of us how to cook. She's taught us kindness . She taught us to be amazing people. She proud of each of us. From me, to the youngest grandchild only being a few months old. She loved her children even more.... . Grandma I know your in heaven smiling down on us. I love you more that words could ever express. And even tho we aren't ready to let you go. Your wings of gold were waiting... My heart is truly broken and their will never be a person to take her place.. . I just don't know what to say I can't believe I can never call just to say hey grandma I love you... 😭
