My dearest Yolanda. You came from Cuba and joined my mother and grandparents in their home, reuniting here in St Louis. As mom and abuelo worked you doted over me like a second mother and took me on daily strolls through Carondolet park. As mom re-married and you fell in love and began your own family our lives seperated. The bond never diminished. You became an incredible wife, mother and career woman. A perfect example of the American dream. Your kindness and generosity were boundless. I am so happy to have lived 67 years of my life with you in it. My heart breaks yet swells with pride at the example you set. You left your mark and now are freed from this mortal coil. On the wings of the angels.....

Yolanda was one of my late mother's best friends and I've seen her and her boys off and on over the years since the 70's. The last time I really talked to her was some years ago at the same funeral home where she's at now. She was so funny and so many great stories of when she was young and the fun she had with my mom and the rest of her friends. I'll always remember her laughing and telling stories. I have no doubt she's doing that with her friends right now. What a neat lady!

I will miss you and never forget you, my dear cousin. You were kind, thoughtful, always positive and, most of all, a woman of great faith. I know you’re with our Lord. Until we meet again,

Yolanda was one of the most loving and caring employees I had the privilege to hire and work with. Always a big gentle smile and kind word for all those she touched.

Please accept my deepest condolences. I was a nurse at the doctors office in which Yolanda and Bud were patients. I left that practice 10 years ago. When I left Yolanda gave me the sweetest card and a St. Christopher medal for my car. I think of her and she her smile and always receive her warm hug, when I look at that medal. I know she will be missed. I am positive you have so many great memories. May you be able to find some smiles and laughter through your tears of sorrow. She will be watching down over everyone.

I cannot express our love and gratitude for knowing such an amazing, loving, kind and generous women. Everyone should have someone like Lonnie in their lives.
What a loving tribute the Downey boys made to their Mother showing a lifetime of photos. Thank you. Rest in Peace, Lonnie.

My neighbor and friend, "Yoly," is dearly missed and will always be in my heart. Six years ago she warmly welcomed me to the neighborhood and we became fast friends. I loved her spirit, her kindness, the twinkle in her eye. I loved her story of immigrating from Cuba as a young woman and succeeding in a new land with a new language. She adored her family, and her little dog, Salsa. She lived her faith. May she rest in peace.

I reminded her of one of her sons so at our corned beef and cabbage dinners
I would always call out to her “hi Mom “
And would give her a hug
I enjoyed it as much as she did
And will miss her
Our deepest sympathies and prayers
