Bessie H Barnes

Bessie Lu Harwood Barnes, age 88, passed away peacefully July 12, 2013 in Bountiful, Utah. She was born January 13, 1925 in Salt Lake City to Frederick Samuel Harwood and Edna Virginia Lish. When Bessie was ten years old, her mother passed away and she was raised by her father and loving step-mother Alta Harwood. She married her sweetheart Clyde Hadley Barnes on June 10, 1947 and were sealed December 28, 1984 in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Bessie was a loving mother to four beautiful children and a fun loving grandma to ten grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She was an excellent seamstress, proficient at crochet, knitting. She loved gardening and had a beautiful Rose Garden. She loved working in the bride’s room at the SLC Temple. She enjoyed doing genealogy and temple work for her ancestors.

She is survived by her children Brent (Kathy), Linda (Trent) Pettey, Jeffrey (Kathy-dec.), Catherine (Paul) McGill. Preceded in death by her husband Clyde.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland, SLC. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. one hour prior to the services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
