Elayne James Paulos

Our beloved mother Elly James Paulos passed away on March 10th, 2019 at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born in Tooele, Utah to Harriet Floor Paulos and James A. Paulos, Elly went on to have three children to whom she devoted her life.

Elly was a fiery, devoted and amazing mother, working her entire career as a Mortgage professional. She loved to golf, and go on vacations with her kids when she wasn't playing Mahjong on her iPad watching Lifetime Original Movies.

While blunt, dry-humored and stubborn (she is Greek, after all), she was the kindest woman a child could ask for. She is the gold standard for selflessness. She put her children before anything else in the world, and it made them better human beings for it.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Harriet, as well as her brother Tally Paulos. She is also now reunited with her late son, Anthony M. Colosimo. Elly is survived by her brother George Paulos and family, and her children and their spouses, Jayme Colosimo and Ryan Cash, and Mario and Kristin Colosimo.

Viewing services will be held Thursday, March 14th at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church (5335 S Highland Drive) at 6-8pm, with a Trisagion service at 7pm.

Funeral will be held Friday, March 15th at Prophet Elias at 10am, proceed by the burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery (1342 E. 500 S). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Paulos family.

  • George Paulos, Brother

Elly was my BEST FRIEND!
We may have lived in different states but it felt like I saw her everyday! We usually talked at least once a day and many times in the evenings or weekends. Our close work relationship turned into an incredible friendship that I will never forget and alway cherish! Our lives touched each other’s in some many different ways. If one of us fell the other would be there to help to try to pick them up. We always looked out for each other! If anyone other than GOD would have taken her away from me I would have found a way to get her back!

I was Elly's big sister in Alpha Chi Omega. I was so sorry to learn of her passing. Although we shared a similar cynicism about life, she never failed to put a smile on my face. For two years, we spent a lot of time laughing together at sorority events. More recently, I would see her at the grocery store, which always made my day. I will miss those chance encounters. Elly was a beautiful person.

My thoughts are with your family at this difficult time.

It is incredibly sad to hear that my one time ballet buddy and sometimes partner in crime left this earth far too early. I will however, always remember Elly and those days fondly. My heart goes out to her lovely family.

All my love to your family. Elly and Yia Yia (Harriet) would bring Jayme to the Panahaikos meetings as our youngest member of the club. Jayme would recite the Lord's Prayer in both English and Greek to the delight of all the women.

May her memory be eternal.
