Myrna was born in Preston, Idaho on September 10, 1950 to Enid Thomas Johnson and David Leroy Johnson. She grew up as the fifth of nine children in nearby Winder, Idaho on a dairy farm.
After graduating from Preston High School in 1968, Myrna, moved to Salt Lake City to attend Utah Technical College on scholarship, where she served as the female student body vice-president from 1969-1970.
Myrna married Robert Carone in 1972. They had two sons, Jason and Kelly Carone. After becoming a single mom in 1978, Myrna went back to school and graduated from the University of Utah in 1984 with a degree in Business Management. Myrna married Carl Stephen Olsen in the Salt Lake Temple on July 7, 1984.
Myrna worked for many years as a book keeper and also became the first woman in Utah to become a registered health underwriter. She served as the treasurer for the William Dorris Hendricks Family Foundation. She loved music and sang with the Mormon Youth Chorus and the Jay Welch Chorale. She also played in a local bell choir. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and actively served in her ward congregation throughout her life.
Myrna liked to bake, play games, and loved spending time with her family. She had a beautiful smile and an innate warmth and kindness about her. She was loved by all who knew her.
Myrna is preceded in death by her mother, father, and step-father, Hyrum Bennett, as well as her sister, Linda Gilbert. She is survived by her husband, Carl Stephen Olsen, and sons, Jason and Kelly Carone, daughters-in-law, Julianne and Kathryn, and her six grandchildren, Anthony, Samantha, Andrew, Cassandra, James, and Jack.
A viewing will be held Friday, August 19, 2022 from 6-8 pm at the LDS meeting house located at 1433 E Old Mission Road in Sandy, UT. The funeral will be held at the same location on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 2:00 pm, with a viewing starting at 1:00 pm.
