Verona Rigby Johnson
April 18, 1933 – April 1, 2021
On April 1, 2021, Verona Elinor Rigby Johnson, our graceful and kind mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 87. Verona was born on April 18, 1933, in Murray, Utah to Lulu Elinor and David Merritt Osborn Rigby. She was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and she attended South High and the University of Utah. She married her sweetheart Keith Norman Johnson on June 19, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was blessed with 5 children, 20 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. Verona and Keith raised their family in the Forest Dale, Olympus Cove, and East Millcreek areas of the Salt Lake Valley. Verona was a wonderful homemaker and created a beautiful, loving, home to raise her children in. She also worked at many trades alongside her husband to help support the family, including Utah Pie Co., Litza’s Pizza, and Viva Verona’s restaurant. She was an avid reader and talented seamstress and crafter, but the most important things in her life were her family, friends, and faith in Jesus Christ. When the children were raised, she and Keith moved to a wonderful community at the Old Farm condominiums in Murray, Utah. Verona served faithfully in many callings in the Women’s organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and upon retirement Verona and Keith served as missionaries in the Kirtland, Ohio Historical Sites Mission. Verona is survived and truly missed by her children Eileen (Devin) Smith, Steven (Rose Marie), Gary (Kathy), Robyn (Will) Wright, Wendy (Kent) Whiting, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held for family and close friends at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah. There will be a brief viewing from 10:00-10:45 AM prior to the service. The service will also be broadcast for viewing at https://www.facebook.com/WasatchLawnMemorial/posts/1068841966859804

Verona Rigby Johnson
April 10, 2021
Sending our love and prayers for each one of you at this tender time! Our hearts are touched as we remember fun times together at Christmas family gatherings in your home when we were first married with all of our little children dressed up acting out the Nativity, singing, with dinner and fun with Santa.
Aunt Verona, and Uncle Keith were so welcoming and kind to gather the Johnson family together! Her happy nature, smile and laugh are fun to think of and always remember! The last time I saw Aunt Verona was in the Jordan River Temple while she was waiting to serve in the House of the Lord. A testament that she values all that is eternal. What a happy and comforting thought to think of and know that your parents are together once again! We love you and pray that you each will feel peace and comforted as you celebrate your Mother and her life!
With Love, Bill and Debbie Johnson

To Aunt Verona's dear family,
We love you all so much, and we send our loving wishes to you at this very tender time. We understand how happy your mom and dad are right now...to be together again! We also know the tender feelings you have at her passing. We send our love to you, and we care for you. Because of health situations, we will not be able to attend what will surely be a very sweet funeral. Aunt Verona is such a wonderful lady! I will always remember her beautiful smile and cheerful countenance. She was always full of love and happiness, and would light up the room! She had such a warm and welcoming presence and was so much fun to be with. We loved all our wonderful family get togethers! Do you
remember when we were all young kids and would gather at your home for Christmas parties? They were awesome! Loved all of our family gatherings! We pray for you, and wish we could be with each of you as you celebrate the life of your dear mother and our dear aunt! It has been so long since we have been together!
All our love to each of you,
Vicki and Ron Ashton

Dear Johnson family,
I love reading the comments of the other members of Millcreek Second Ward. I am a late comer to this ward family but I have the privilege of knowing and serving with your mother in a relief society setting. She was an elect lady in every sense of the word and I thoroughly enjoyed working with her and getting to know her. I too am happy she has been able to return to be with Keith. I echo the sentiments expressed in the other tributes to your mother. Bless you with peace and comfort at this time.

Dear Johnson Family,
I was one of those lucky people who saw your Mom's home at Christmas time. However the gift or talent I admired the most was that EVERYTHING in her home had a place and it was there. She was amazing. She was also a quiet beautiful woman. She was also missing her sweetheart and I am happy that she is with him now. I have been alone 24 years so I certainly understood that part. You are blessed with a wonderful mother but because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, your parents are now together. Hope you will all be together again someday. Love and Best Wishes, Lorna C. Wood

Sending loving thoughts to Keith and Verona's family. Such a great Uncle and Aunt. We loved them and their kindness. Verona was a real go getter. She was really an amazing woman with lots of spunk and fun. We are so happy she can be with her eternal companion and friend. We are sure they have been missing each other. Together forever.
She will be dearly missed.

I had the privilege of living right across the hall way in the condo in Old Farm. Sharing hello's and helping each other in so many ways. I miss those days and will cherish the love and friendship. I'm so glad that they are once again together.
Always your neighbor and brother,

Keith and Verona were very special people in my life. Keith was my Bishop and we had a most loving and kind relationship. I trusted him totally. Verona was my Relief Society Leader and President and soon a very lovely, gentle, true, and loving friend. I will treasure memories of them. They were a sharp, bright, capable, and loyal couple. They showed respect to each other and to those who came within their world. Their example of faithful Latter Day Saints was inspiring and uplifting. I am so happy they are together once again.
With love and fond regards for this wonderful couple...Sincerely, Nona Miller

Dear Johnson Family, We were good friends and your mom and dad and have many happy memories from our travels together and serving in church callings. Verona was always so kind and had a lovely smile. I have missed and thought of her often since leaving Salt Lake.
May God bless, Vicki Ellis
