Cindy was born to Judie and Lonnie Blanchard in Houston, TX on August 29, 1962. She lived in New Orleans, LA and Spring, TX in her youth. Upon graduating college from Stephen F. Austin, she took a job with General Mills and moved to San Antonio. It’s there that she met the love of her life, Mike, while walking her dog, Duchess. He confided in her that he always wanted to be a vet, and so began a great love affair. They were married in 1989 and soon began a family, raising two boys, Taylor and Austin. Even though Cindy partnered with Mike in the family business (not a vet), her favorite job was being a wife and mother.
Cindy was defined by her great faith and served the Lord with grace and laughter and kindness. She always knew the way and often helped others find theirs. In fact, her life compass was God, Spouse, Kids, Work, and Fun, in that order. She was a great encourager and was thoughtful beyond measure, always giving the gift of her full attention. Her generous spirit filled a room and made everyone feel invited and welcome. She loved to entertain and was happiest when her table was full with family and friends. She loved to tell stories, especially the ones reliving the shenanigans of her boys. She was everyone’s favorite person and left a little bit of her sparkle on each person she met.
Her life is celebrated by her rock and devoted husband of 31 years, Mike; sons Taylor (Cydney) and Austin (Jackie); her parents, Judie and Lonnie Blanchard; sisters Susan Blanchard and Karen Crosley (Tom). She was the ultimate Sissy to her granddaughter Elise, the light shiner; the greatest aunt of all time to Julia, Andrew, Caroline, Cole, Hunter, Madden, Locke, Lizzy, and Lauren, whom she treated as if they were her own children; loving in-laws, Vince (Allison), Tony and Gloria. She will be missed by her invaluable and gentle friends, Yoli and Linda and her devoted fur babies, Rascal and Max.
Special thanks to the countless number of friends who offered support, prayer, meals, a smile, encouraging words, and understanding during her illness. These were all heartfelt and appreciated by Cindy. Due to Covid, a small celebration of life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home at 1701 Austin Highway on March 13, 2021 at 3:00. The service will be live streamed on the Sunset website so everyone who loved her can attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cindy’s church, Crossroads Church in Seguin, www.crossroadsc.com or the ALS Association at www.als.org.
