George L. Cortinaz, age 70, passed away on September 1, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Claro and Olivia Cortinaz. He is survived by one brother Joe B. Cortinaz (and wife Gloria) and two sisters Marty Musquiz, Rose Mary Padilla (and husband Jesse). He is also survived by nieces, a great niece and nephew and many relatives and friends.
George attended school at Las Palmas Elementary, Edgewood Middle School and he graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1970. During and after his high school years, George worked at Christi’s Seafood Restaurant on Broadway in San Antonio. George also worked in construction for many years until he retired. His favorite pastime was going fishing with his family and watching the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys on TV. He enjoyed watching Westerns and especially loved talking about the weather, which was an endless subject and interest for him.
On behalf of George, we his family, want to express our gratitude to his nurse Alissa with My Home Hospice and Novela his caregiver, who during George’s remaining years provided very important services, help, and support to George and his family. We also want to thank the staff at Northeast Baptist ICU, Dr. Sanchez and her staff and Enhabit Hospice for their help in seeing George through difficult times.
A Rosary will be recited on September 11th at 7pm at Trevino Funeral Home. Mass will be held on September 12th at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church at 10am, with a procession from the funeral home departing at 9:30am. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
