Hugh graduated from Edison High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. He served on the George A. Johnson during WWII.
On February 9, 1946 he married Lucille Armstrong. Hugh's greatest loves were his God, Lucille and his family.
Hugh was a founding member of Concordia Lutheran Church and was active in the church throughout his life. He was a regular participant in the men's bible study and attended the 8:00 am service without fail.
Hugh owned and ran the Slim's Automotive Repair Shop on Blanco Road for many years, building it from a one bay shop into the largest independent paint, body and automotive repair shop in San Antonio. Hugh was acknowledged by his peers and suppliers, with several awards throughout his career for the company that he built. Most of Slim's employees worked there for many years and Hugh thought of them as his second family.
After retiring from the automotive business, he pursued his lifelong desire of becoming a rancher in Castroville.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and took up golf in his later years. He had many friends and especially enjoyed spending time with his brother and sister-in-laws, Bob and Billie LeClercq and Howard and Ann Armstrong.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ennis Earl and Ruby Lee Dixon Boazman; and brothers, Harmon and Raymond Boazman.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucille Boazman; two sons and one daughter, Ray L. Boazman and wife, Betty, Doug W. Boazman and wife, Debbie, and Terri L. Boazman; five grandchildren, Blaine and Dawn Boazman, Aimee and Jeff Baker, Heather and Knox Williams, Celeste and Steve May and Krista Boazman; along with nephews, Mike and Don Armstrong; seven great grandchildren; and brother, James M. Boazman.
Donations can be made to Concordia Lutheran Church or a charity of choice.
