Lovita Winnelle (Nell) Carter, age 91, passed away on January 16, 2022, at Adante Memory Care in San Antonio, TX, where she befriended and inspired people during her journey through Alzheimer’s. She was born in Dallas, TX, April 4, 1930, to Sally Nipp and Daniel Ernest Keller, one of 11 children.
Nell was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Family was her passion. She always had a smile and was fun-loving and kind to everyone. She was a member of Shearer Hills Baptist Church for almost 50 years and had the most beautiful voice and radiant smile when she sang praises to her Lord and Savior, Jesus.
Nell enjoyed working for General Surgical Associates in San Antonio. She was known for her strong work ethic as well as her addition of joyful fun to the office atmosphere.
Nell was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, James Connard Haney, the “love of her life”; by her son, James (Juno) Connard Haney, Jr; by her granddaughter, Angela Haney; by her 2nd husband of 13 years, Don Carter; by her siblings Leta Mae King, Sybil Hammond, Alton Keller, Lona McCarty, Bruce Keller, and Patsy Jackson.
She is survived by her children Barbara Reed (Tim) and Susan Uptmore (Jack); siblings Burl Keller, Lucy Addison, Judy Hay and Ann Briggs; grandchildren James Haney (Erin), Robert Haney, Carolyn Haney, and their mother, Donna Haney, Christopher Reed (Barbara), Jennifer Reed, Jason Uptmore (Rachel), Ashley Uptmore, Jonathan Uptmore, Joshua Uptmore (Megan); 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Nell was buried @ Evergreen Cemetery, Lipan, TX, at a family graveside service. Pallbearers were her son in laws, grandchildren, and nephews.
