Maria Avila Sanchez passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 90. She was born in San Nicolás de los Agustinos, Guanajuato, Mexico on November 28, 1929 to her parents, the late Felipe Avila and Soledad Cacique Avila.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved husband, Ray U. Sanchez; her siblings, Jose Avila Gallegos and Alejandra Avila.

Maria leaves her memory to her siblings, Antonia Garcia and Teresa Ojeda; her nieces, Rosa Montalvo, Sonia Oria, Maria Lombardo, Eva Gallegos, Lupe Gallegos, Rita Gallegos, Alicia Delgado, Vivian Gallegos, Melissa Ibarra, Elisa Avila Garcia and Lourdes Ojeda; her nephews, Mario Gallegos, Jaime Gallegos, Jim Montalvo, Ernesto Oria, Christopher Lombardo, Gonzalo Delgado, Jorge Garcia and Mario Ibarra; and her extended family and friends who loved her.

Due to restrictions on public gatherings, the visitation at Funeraria del Angel Trevino – 226 Cupples Rd. 78237 – will be limited to 40 people in the building at a time.

The Visitation will be on Thursday, July 2 beginning at 8 AM, with a Rosary to be recited at 8:45 AM. A Procession will depart at the conclusion of the rosary and arrive at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower – 1715 North Zarzamora St. 78201 – for a Mass at 10 AM. The Burial will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II – 746 Cupples Rd. 78237. Face coverings will be required at all times.

Hola Tia Maria,
No mas queria decir gracias por todo. Recuerdo visitando a San Antonio a ti y mi tio, nos llevaron a ver el riverwalk. No se si recuerdas pero yo recuerdo caminar y no prestar atención, lo siguiente que sé es que entré en un poste de señalización de la calle. Todos comenzamos a reir.
