Mary Virginia Henning

Born in Olathe, Kansas on April 24, 1935, Mary met her husband Robert Henning when she worked for the draft board. Bob was an Army recruiter and came into the draft board office to pick up some files. Bob swept Mary off her feet and they married December 26, 1954. They had three children, Sonja, Gregg, and Kathi. Mary became an Army wife as Bob served for twenty-two years until retirement.

Mary and Bob were active members of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Mary was an accomplished seamstress and painter, but her greatest joy was found in her family where she was the glue that held the entire family together. She was patient, kind, and generous to everyone who knew her.

Bob preceded Mary in death in 2007. Mary is survived by her three children, six grandchildren, and four great-grandsons, as well as her two sisters.

Her visitation/viewing will be 9:00 a.m., Saturday May 29, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary North with procession to Ft. Sam Houston departing at 10:15. Graveside service will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
